On Thursday, Scots took to the polls in record numbers in a referendum to determine the future of their country. The ballots contained just a single yes-no question, "Should Scotland be an independent country?" In the end, 55 percent responded "No," meaning that Scotland will remain a part of the UK for the foreseeable future. Although outright independence was rejected, change is still on its way. In the lead-up to the vote, unionist parties promised Scotland greater autonomy, particularly on the issues of tax, spending, and welfare, should it remain a part of the UK. Discuss

Analysis of the remains of King Richard III, discovered under a Leicester parking lot in 2012, lends credence to historical accounts of his final battle. Computed tomography (CT) scans and micro-CT imaging have revealed injuries he sustained from blows to his head and body on that fateful day in 1485. Much of the improvement has taken place in Asia, where rapid economic growth and rising incomes have cut the number of hungry people by 50 percent.
