A mother tired of her children repeatedly ignoring her calls decided to do something about it. Her new app, Ignore No More, allows parents to remotely lock their children's phones, blocking texting, gaming, Internet services, and all calling except calls to authorized "parent" contacts and emergency services. In this way, the app effectively forces unresponsive youngsters to check in with mom or dad if they want to regain access to their devices. The app has gotten mixed responses, with some applauding it as a helpful parenting tool and others criticizing it as overly controlling. What is your opinion? Discuss

The eastern US and central Asia had a significantly cooler-than-average July, but they were the only two regions on Earth that did. For the globe as a whole, it was the fourth-hottest month on record—surpassed only by the Julys of 1998, 2005, and 2010—and the 353rd consecutive month with an above average global temperature. The blistering July temperatures came hot on the heels of both the hottest May and hottest June ever recorded.

Humans have enjoyed chocolate for thousands of years, developing countless ways to prepare and consume it. Yet, in all these years, we have been unable to overcome the problem of chocolate melting in warm temperatures. So, Cambridge University is seeking a candidate to pursue a PhD in chocolate. Research will focus on studying the "fundamentals of heat-stable chocolate" and factors that can keep the tasty confection solid in warmer climes.
